Faculty Position in Cancer Bioengineering

The Institute of Bioengineering of the School of Engineering at EPFL is soliciting applications for a tenure track assistant professor or tenured associate professor in Translational Cancer Engineering. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: innovative approaches to detecting, monitoring and treating cancer; stem cell, organoid and organ / tumor-on-a-chip technology; synthetic biology and biomolecular engineering; nanomaterials, and immune-engineering.

The successful candidate will start a new laboratory in the Agora Translational Cancer Research Building at the Canton of Vaud University Hospital (CHUV) and EPFL. Agora is a unique, synergistic environment with the objective to translate cancer therapy from the bench to the clinic (https://www.isrec.ch/en/agora/objective). It brings together investigators from four institutions (University of Lausanne, and its branch of the Ludwig Institute, CHUV and EPFL) and multiple disciplines (including bioengineers, bioinformaticians, chemists, cancer biologists, imaging experts and cancer therapy investigators).

EPFL is a dynamic science and engineering university fostering excellence and diversity. It is consistently ranked among the top research institutions in Europe, and offers a rich international environment with English as the common language. Bioengineering research is supported by numerous outstanding core facilities including imaging, proteomics, bioinformatics, genomics, flow cytometry, microfabrication, and biomolecular screening.

As an EPFL faculty member, the successful candidate is expected to initiate an independent and innovative translational research program, and to participate in undergraduate and graduate-level teaching. Internationally competitive salaries, benefits, start-up resources, and a generous yearly running budget are offered.

Applications should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae with a list of publications, a concise statement of research and teaching interests, and the names of at least three references for a junior position or five references for a senior position. Applications should be uploaded to the recruitment web site:
